In middle school especially, students are looking for a place to belong. We offer events, activities, and student organizations that help students connect with their classmates as they use their creativity, abilities, and gifts. We also lay the groundwork for the increased servant-leadership abilities that students will experience in high school. We encourage students to invest in the school community by helping with various activities such as Homecoming, Spirit Week, Admissions Preview Days, and other community events.
Clubs & Co-Curriculars
There are so many ways for Middle School students to get involved in the 威尼斯赌博游戏手机版 community! In addition to the clubs and co-curricular activities below, 6th-8th grade students can participate in a variety of junior varsity and varsity athletics. Check out Flare Dance Studio for dance classes and a variety of techniques for students of all ages.
The Art Club offers students a calm place to enjoy drawing—regardless of their skill level—and also to connect with their classmates. Anyone is welcome to join us. We start each meeting with a drawing prompt, and we end each meeting with an informal walk around the room to check out what each person did with that prompt. Students bring their own supplies, but paper is provided.
The Board Game Club gives students the opportunity to compete and build positive, healthy relationships while playing games, such as Monopoly, Risk, Settlers of Catan, and more. They learn patience, strategy, resilience, and in some cases teamwork, all while having fun.
The Book Club offers students a place to share a good book in a more natural way. Students read the same book and come to our meetings ready to participate in or lead book discussion with their friends. Our goal is to enjoy reading in community and discover new stories that we might not have read otherwise.
Card Game Club is all about playing various types of card games! Since the spring of 2023, the focus of this club is the trading card game Magic: The Gathering. In this club, students can learn and play this exciting (and complicated) dueling game and play against each other in pairs or groups of three or four. You don't need previous experience to join, and if you don't have any cards, you can borrow some for the day!
The Chess Club gives students the opportunities to build relationships as they develop critical thinking skills and work on problem solving by playing chess with their peers and learning more about the game of chess.
The Climbing Club is an outdoor educational program that gives students the opportunity to have an introductory, yet competitive climbing experience. We occasionally boulder in natural areas, but frequently practice and compete at the High Point gyms in Chattanooga. Members experience recreational and competitive rock climbing and bouldering as well as the fulfilling camaraderie that comes with being a part of a team.
Missions Club seeks to serve others through acts of encouragement, prayer, and service. Our primary focus is our 威尼斯赌博游戏手机版 Middle School community, but we also serve the Chattanooga area. Past activities have included making exam survival bags for 威尼斯赌博游戏手机版 8th graders, decorating the Middle School for holidays, helping with service projects in Chattanooga, and organizing a school supply drive for Teen Challenge.
Musical Theatre productions at 威尼斯赌博游戏手机版 are truly a community collaboration. Dozens of uniquely gifted singers, dancers, actors, artists, designers, and stage and tech crew members come together to produce the Middle School Musical each year. Even Lower School students fill specific roles. For this major production, auditions are required for all performing roles, but not for crew involvement.
A team of stewardship-minded students work together weekly to collect and sort recyclables from the Middle School. This initiative is student-driven, and it exists in an effort to serve the school, community, and world through conscientious, God-honoring stewardship.
Robotics at 威尼斯赌博游戏手机版 equips students with industry level skills in mechanical engineering, computer science, and project management. Additionally, students learn and develop valuable soft skills such as public speaking, working as part of a team and design-based critical thinking. Middle School students compete in tournaments through the VEX Robotics Competition, the largest and fastest growing middle school and high school robotics program globally.
Each year, an exciting engineering challenge is presented in the form of a game. Students, with guidance from their teachers and mentors, build innovative robots and compete year-round.The VEX Robotics Competition prepares students to become future innovators with 95% of participants reporting an increased interest in STEM subject areas and pursuing STEM-related careers.
